"UNCLE LUKE" WANTS REGALADO'S RESIGNATION BECUASE OF THE DEATH OF 2 AFRICAN-AMERICANS BY MIAMI POLICE

LET'S TAKE OUR NEIGHBORHOODS BACK
By Maday Seijo-León

Recently a police operation took place in the streets of Miami directed by Miguel A. Exposito –Chief of Miami Police– and supported by Tomas Regalado – Major of the same city. This operation had the full intention of recuperating the safety in our neighborhoods.

Needless to say the results were mainly positive. Hundreds of fire arms were turned in and many arrests were made. However, like with any other police operation, there are always tragedies and this case was not an exception. Two delinquents decided to play an episode of The Wild West and irresponsibly opened fire to policemen on scene. In return, the cops fired back killing them in the spot.

We are all aware that crime has increased enormously because of the current economic crisis we are facing. For some families feeling secure at home is a luxury due to the increasing violence they face each and every day in their neighborhoods. We see these delinquents and murderers captured on security cameras committing their vicious crimes to satisfy their own selfishness and killing innocents along the way. These daily scenarios need to be stopped! They need to be given a wakeup call.

Since the topic of racial discrimination is always present, there are some people in our community that are accusing Miami Police of racism because they defended themselves from two delinquents that were shooting at them. These two individuals were African-Americans. Rapper Luther R. Cambell “Uncle Luke” is even asking for Ragalado’s resignation because of the two young black guys that got killed.

I wonder if it would’ve been considered “racism” if they had been Whites, Hispanics or Asians? Shouldn’t we focus on the crimes rather than their nationalities? Let’s get this straight once and for all, if you decide to play John Wayne with the Police you will get hurt, no matter where you are from. Period!

Police need the support from our community in order to clean our neighborhoods. We all have the right to feel secure in our homes and the only way to do this is to remove the rotten apples from the streets, no matter where they are originally from or what color their skin is. After all, we are all the same, “humans”.

I publicly condemn the excessive police force and brutality towards any citizen in this or any other city, but I also encourage and like to focus on the positive things that our Police men do every day and that no one sees or hears about. It’s up to each and every one of us to set aside the ignorant prejudice pathway that some people will never remove from their hearts and minds and start living in an unpolluted mindset.
